The Sims 4: Intriguing Showers

Pinstar was able to play The Sims 4 during The Sims 4 Creators Camp, and reading about their Pinstar Legacy Challenge experience  intrigued me by the following info sneak-peek:

(…)

And let me tell you about showers: They play a pretty big role in the Sims 4, and not just with hygiene. So at base your sim can “Take a shower” “Take a brisk shower” “Take a steamy shower” and “Take a Thoughtful shower”. Just plain taking a shower is the fastest in terms of just getting your hygiene up.

A brisk shower only fills your hygene halfway but is very quick and it leaves your Sim with an “Energized” moodlet. Energized is one of the emotions. A steamy shower leaves them in with a flirty moodlet. A thoughtful shower takes MUCH longer than normal and very slowly satisfies hygiene, but leaves them with the inspired moodlet. After all, we all do our best thinking in the shower.

As a funny side note, if your Sim is flirty already when they go to use the shower, they get the option to take a ‘cold shower’ which takes them OUT of the flirty mood.

No more Evil/Extreme Showers from The Sims 3! There is finally a difference! Their legacy challenge article is full of interesting spoilers about The Sims 4’s bills and other basic things. I really enjoyed reading all the bits and pieces of information Pinstar encountered during their first game session with The Sims 4!

The Sims 4 – Life Stages Screenshot + Rant

With the publishing of a new The Sims 4 screenshot(!) on Ow.ly, we can see the different life stages in The Sims 4. We can see a (male) child, teenager, adult, elder and what appears to be, a young woman with a hairstyle that reminds me of Miley Cyrus (and I find myself liking this silly style on the Sim). On the left side of the rendering stands a tall blond man, an uncle or a father of the little, adorable boy, whose facial expression is just too cute! Did you see those yellow socks. I’ll be rocking those somewhere in The Sims 4, in the future.

Have you seen SimGuruRusskii‘s new avatar? I LOVE IT

I expect myself to try all the weird and unusual items in my game first, and then switch to making pretty houses. I hope they really upped the gameplay!

When it comes to build/buy modes I will feel much more limited in terms of mix&matching choices, since we do not get a color wheel to customize it (R.I.P. Create-a-Style), but will use a system of swatches instead. I’m soooooo not looking forward to it. I keep thinking “You’ll like spending less than 25min on customizing the colors of your outfit, and you’ll get more time to actually live the life… of a Sim :)”, but then I will have to choose from a very limited pool of colors, and it makes me sad again. I don’t even want to think about creatively changing up the color scheme of the furniture! It sounds like the end of the world to me.

For new beginnings! Ugh. I just have to see what The Sims 4 is all about. After all, I have been playing this series since I was less than 10 years old, and have been with it since the get-go!

Saying that, I love the nostalgia of The Sims 1, and I am hoping its “magic” to happen in my gamer heart. I miss the thrill of exploring something new, as The Sims 3 series has come to an end, and very much of it felt like a 3rd repetition of the same game. At least the freezer bunny was awesome. Never cared for gnomes and the unusable well in Dragon Valley just would not accept my Sims’ wishes like it did in The Sims 2, where I had wishing wells that came with the game, and not DLC. Not to mention that once they released greenhouses on the official The Sims 3 (DLC) Store, many players who bought them were tricked into thinking that they could actually put plants inside of their newly built greenhouse. Boy, were they wrong 🙂 Just because EA puts plants in a room and takes a screenshot and the “(…)with the new greenhouse, you’ll be able to grow excellent crops in a fraction of the time!, doesn’t mean that you will actually buy an option to do that without having to open a cheat window, and… Cheat.

^I can’t move because there is a CAR in my way…

It’s just so uncomfortable, isn’t it ? Going out of your way to type in, a trillion codes to make the game “work”; get your Sims unstuck, remove that invisible Sim or the taxi which has been stuck in front of the grocery store for the past 3 generations of your family. That is all assuming your game will not break on the first generation, your save wouldn’t get corrupted and there wouldn’t be a routing or a lag nightmare, that you would have to deal with on the first day of your first Sim. Because that is how the technical side of The Sims 3 works. Oops. I mean, it doesn’t 🙂
A player must use an in-game cheat to actually plant flowers inside the greenhouse, or just some random 4 walls for that matter, since the DLC greenhouse windows and roof were not recognized as any other, than a random window, and the game “thought” you wanted to plant something in the middle of a freaking room, inside your house, even if you had no floors and the ground was exposed. The cheat “moveobjects on” allows players to place any item, anywhere.

Of course, by now you would’ve known that the greenhouse windows and doors can’t actually MAKE a greenhouse, and they were only decorative items. There are tea sets, fruit, lotions and toys, which are nothing else but a decoration. I hope that in The Sims 4 we will receive actual interactive objects for our Sims.

For the Sims! Right? Nothing’s personal here.

Gosh I miss sitting around a campfire and singing songs in The Sims 1, the different vacation spots (the forest/mountainous area especially). There was so much to do, and when you thought you could use an object, it wasn’t a static decoration, but a usable, interactive item. I hope The Sims 4 will have a strong character, a nice body and a cool personality, because I hope to spend a lot of time with it, in the future. Oh, yeees.

Now I just need to hear SOMETHING about the game…
